Kinara is a Park Slope gem whose menu consists of authentic Indian cuisine at an affordable price. Their master chefs prepare dishes that are emanating flavor and full of spice. They cook with only the freshest ingredients and the friendly atmosphere of the restaurant always keeps customers coming back for more. Whether you’re in the mood for vegetarian or meat dishes, Kinara will definitely satisfy your Indian food cravings.
Food came quickly but was all not hot, and they forgot our appetizer. I called back, got grief from the dispatcher, and then 43 minutes later, the appetizer arrived, also cold, and by now the rest was cold, so I got to re-heat everything, negating the convenience of delivery. Plus, the delivery person held down my doorbell for the entire 15 seconds it took me to get to my door, which was needlessly irritating.
As for the food - Ka-chori would have been good if not cold. I thought ka-chori was a stuffed dumpling, but it appears in NY it's a plate of its ingredients. Still quite tasty, if not cold and congealed. Chicken tikka was rough - dry and barely spiced. The Vindaloo is the best thing, and admittedly quite good. Good blent of hot, sour and hearty.
Worst offenders were the staples: dry, cold rice and naan was stale and not springy or grilled.

Well, that was disappointing. Just received my meal of saag paneer, vegetable korma and vegetable samosas. First, the samosas are rock hard and very dry. Also, they are a couple of the smallest samosas I've seen from any area Indian restaurant. The vegetable korma was watery instead of creamy and the vegetables were a bit undercooked. The saag paneer was ok, but nothing special. The rice was flavorless. Fail. While I like fast service, I was immediately suspicious when the meal arrived within 15 minutes. I rarely write reviews, especially if negative, but this was just sad. Also, they force a minimum tip on you which is the first time I've seen this on Seamless.

I don't know how they have four stars but maybe it got to their head and they stopped trying. If they don't have an item they will send you something else without calling you, which is probably one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to food delivery. TO MAKE IT WORSE... When I called I starting off by stating that I did not receive two items (i named the items) then the guy immediately cuts me off and says very rudely "oh i sent you blabla and blablabla" almost as if i'm an idiot for not realizing that they clearly sent replacements... um no? Anyways, the two things were dessert items and my two replacement items were the gulab jamun and rasmalai. After saying on the phone that I didn't want those items he very rudely said "ok then give them back!". UM SERIOUSLY? He probably thought i secretly wanted it and would say "nevermind" if he asked me to give it back? Nice try, but no. i don't have time to deal with someone else's mistake when I'm the customer so I told him that I wasn't going to wait for the delivery guy to come back and that i would just call seamless for a refund, which i did, thank you seamless. ALSO, i tried the replacements and they were SO BLAND AND TASTELESS AND TERRIBLE. The gulab jamun was barely sweet as well as terrible in every other way and the rasmalai was insanely rubbery and tasteless... I didn't even know it could be rubbery like that... I've never experienced a dairy product being rubbery so like i have no idea how they made it but it's terrible. In conclusion, the worst part hands down is how rude they are on the phone. I've forgiven plenty of delivery mishaps from other places because they were very kind. Customer service is SO important.

The rice was undercooked (kind of crunchy) and the meal itself was nothing special. I love indian food but won't be ordering from them again.

Not sure what's going on, but my favorite appetizer is gone from the menu and the chicken tikka masala tasted like straight up tomato sauce on rice. It used to be really good but this last time I ordered it was terrible. I'll probably try it again but if I get marinara on rice again, I'm done with this place.

The chicken tandoori was probably the worst I've ever had!

Amazingly fresh lunch delivery. Quick and tasty the lunch order was also crammed full of extras making it very wallet friendly. A wide selection of dishes will have me ordering again ASAP. If my early experiences hold true I will readily say this is the best Indian in the area.

Good Samosas, but Chicken Tikka Masala tasted off, maybe not fresh.

This barely counts as indian food. I had chicken tikka masala, pretty hard to mess up, and it tasted like sourcream and katsup. Will not order again

Kinara is my go-to takeout spot for tasty Indian comfort food. I enjoy every dish I order and they are super fast with delivery or pickup. Definitely order the takeout special which comes with naan and an app. I always get the samosa (green sauce and yogurt sauce are perfect for dipping!). You get so much food!! Order for dinner and you will have leftovers for lunch :) Some may say the service is a bit curt in person, but that's why we use seamless!!

Although delivered quickly, my chicken tikka masala was pretty bad. The chicken was pretty questionable (mostly dark meat and some hard chunks) and the sauce was more like spaghettios. The side sauces were sort of like strawberry yogurt and barbecue sauce.

Chicken Tiki Masala tasted like Campbell's tomato sauce. Place is whack and not spicey at all, no flavor this tastes like Indian food id expect in KC...

Ordered from Kinara and never got a confirmation e-mail saying that it had been received. When I called they were INCREDIBLY rude. I won't be ordering from Kinara again. Hype about this food though; it just arrived.

Tasty and great quantity for price.

Great food, decent prices, and very quick delivery. Only complaints are pretty minor: sometimes my Coke isn't cold, and they don't send the condiments I ask for.

I wish Seamless had a negative stars feature for this place.
Anyone and everyone thinking of ordering from this place, please do yourself a favor and pick again from the list, unless you enjoy being disrespected and yelled at. Then this is your go to place. An order of mediocre to decent food that has potential to be good if delivered/served in a timely manner with a side of filthy appearing staff, rude unprofessional attitudes, and general incompetence.
Not only did I get my order 3 hours after it was put in, I was yelled at by the person answering the phone when I called to check in on it. First call after waiting an hour: he hung up after the word "delivery" before I could even finish my sentence. Second call, I was told the delivery person was 3 minutes away and calling to check was unnecessary and annoying. Third call after waiting 2 hours: I was told that the delivery person is sick and so he has to walk slowly and I should be less spoiled and wanting everything my way. When the delivery person finally came, he claimed he was stuck at the gate for "hours" because no one would open it for him. I guess it never occurred to him to call my cell phone number or -- oh, I don't know -- try the buzzer numbers I made sure to include in my order!!! Mind you, my roommate got his order delivered from a different restaurant 15 minutes prior to all this through the same gate, right to our door.
When the food finally got in my hands, it was cold and soggy. Even the bag ripped because it was so wet with condensation for 3 hours. I agree that the food can be very good because even soggy and cold, it was still decent tasting. But it is definitely not worth having to go through the hassle. Maybe if I was stuck in a desert on an uninhabited planet and Kinara was the only source of food around, I might order from them again. But with so many options and infinitely better service around Park Slope, I will forever look at this place in disgust and advise all to do the same.

I don't give 5 star reviews very often but this place was excellent. An order with an estimated delivery time of 30-45 minutes arrived in 24. This was a very pleasant surprise as a) I was starving and b) in my experience Seamless orders are normally delivered at the very end of the estimated timespan, if not (infuriatingly) 5 minutes or so after.
I ordered the takeaway special and chose the chicken vindaloo with the pakoras. It came with rice and a plain nan bread and a generous selection of really yummy chutneys. I was really pleased about the chutneys because for some reason they are something that a lot of Indian takeaways in this area get really wrong. They also included a bite-sized desert made of sweet-tasting rice, which was a nice bonus. I thought the nan was better than average - very fluffy and fresh. Be aware that even the medium version of the vindaloo is really spicy. That wasn't a problem for me as I love really hot food but if you're not into it you should go for another dish rather than trying to tone it down.
The portion sizes were decent and the price was about in line with others in this area. I will definitely order from them again next time I'm in the mood for Indian. I just hope they maintain this level of service.

These guys used to be good, but food is never consistent anymore. Pakoras taste day old half the time, and Chana masala has about an inch of oil at the top. Not to mention the take out containers are always sloppy and spilling. Last straw was my previous order when the delivery man demanded a pen for signature and tried to enter my home when I asked him to wait outside. they are totally disrespectful toward women. When I called to report the driver, the man on the phone yelled at me. Disgusting. Try Kanan, they're awesome.

Ordered the Chicken Korma last night - found the contents of CANNED FRUIT COCKTAIL in it. Chicken Korma, IF it were to contain fruit at all, should have mango in it - not grapes, pineapple, pears and a cherry. Disappointed by the dish.

We order from here all the time and it is always consistently delish. Faves are Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, and Aloo Gobi Matar.

The lamb vidaloo wasn't very good: way too much vinegar, coated in a thick layer of grease and oil on top. The samosas were okay.

Kinara use to be great a few years ago, even if they were always difficult to deal with. When I would go in to eat at the restaurant they were never nice, but the food was good. Now the service and food has gotten much worse lately and even though I would saw I was a loyal customer I'm now done with Kinara. After 3 phone calls tonight to the manager and a mix up with the seamless order delivery they kept being difficult. I could even eat the mixed up delivery as I'm a vegetarian. Even the seamless lady said they were difficult to deal with. Choose another Indian restaurant for your dinner. Ps. I neverrr leave bad reviews!

This is my go-to Indian spot. Love the Chana Saag and Tikka Masala. Samosas can be greasy, but the filing is tasty. Always delivered within the estimated arrival time.

Added a note asking for extra spicy to my order but somehow received a dish that was extra mild, with no spice whatsoever. Also, the lamb was way overcooked and very chewy. Won't order from there again.
Posted 3 years ago by Daniel F.
The food is pretty good, though never spicy enough. They are almost laughably stingy with the condiments, however: last night I ordered two appetizer/entree specials and received no mango chutney (had requested 2), one tamarind, and half a container of mint chutney. The condiments are basically my favorite part of Indian food, so I doubt I'll order from there again.

Below average food, but not inedible. The samosas left a pool of oil at the bottom of the delivery container. The mains were only so so. I'll continue onward to find a delivery indian restaurant that I can be loyal to.

It was okay food. Not as spicy as I would have liked, nor as flavorful. The ka-chori was a bit ... weird. Not bad, just different than I'm used to. Delivery was prompt.

really, a 3.4 star place. I'd have given it 4 stars, but it's too highly rated already.
Chicken Jalfrazi was sort of like Aloo Gobi with chicken and additional spices- by far the best dish on our order. Aloo Matar Gobi was, strangely, was sort of bland though visually almost identical. Lamb Saagwala is the kind where they thicken it with a ton of cornstarch. It would have been much better without the thickener.
Samosas were the bottom level of acceptable. Vegetable curry bore a striking resemblance to store-bought, precut and frozen vegetables from a bag tossed in curry. Not bad, but not good either.
Still, not terrible. My wife and I have a strange need for Aloo Matar Gobi, not just Aloo Gobi. It's all about the peas, yo. I'm going to order from a few more places before I try this one again, though. Acceptable.

The food is delivery indian -- fine, but nothing special. however, i'm flabbergasted that it won't let me tip anything under 16% of my entire order! i'm sorry, but i'm not going to tip $8 on a small delivery order to come a couple of blocks.

We were charged for three extra naan and they delivered one.
Then they tried to claim that we only ordered one.
Their food is superb, but their service is atrocious bordering on fraudulent. Their basic reaction to customer complaints is to try to intimidate the customer into no longer complaining.

This is the best Indian food in the Slope bar none. They are very fast delivery and authentic. The 1 issue I have is they raised their default tip to an outrageous percentage on seamless. I will only order by phone from now on.

The best Indian in the neighborhood that I've found so far. The naan has a lovely texture and flavor that beats most other places, as well as flavorful dipping sauces that I crave long after I've finished my meal. The heat, when ordering a dish extra spicy, actually does pack a punch, which I really appreciate. The food tastes fresh and both the lamb and chicken dishes I've had were really tender and juicy. The Takeout Special is a go-to option in our household quite frequently and we've never been disappointed.

This may be the best Indian food I've had in NYC. Though it wasn't hot upon arrival (what delivery can be, really?), the samosas were perfectly done, not overly crispy or greasy, with a delicious slightly spicy filling of perfect consistency; and the chicken vindaloo - at medium spicy - was as flavorful as any I have had, with a strong spicy-ness to boot. I almost never rate anything, but this place deserves it.

I'd give them 0 stars if I could. I called them after waiting 90 minutes for my order, they said it would be here in 5 minutes. 15 minutes later I called, and they told me they never got the order (same guy.) So, after 2 hours I have no food, and none on the way. When I asked him to call Seamless web to make sure my CC wasn't charged he told me to do it myself, it wasn't his job. Won't be ordering from them again...ever.

The food is very good -- the best Indian I've found in Park Slope -- but pricey.
Their dishes are fresher and less oily than your usual Americanized Indian food, but just as tasty. The spinach in the saag dishes is finely chopped instead of pureed, which is excellent; the tikka masala is not as overwhelming creamy as most places (and the better for it), and less common dishes like the crab curry are excellently flavored. Plus, they'll actually make it spicy -- I love intense heat, but even I usually order the vindaloos medium instead of spicy.
That said, the care and quality shows up in the bill.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Park Slope, although I've only tried a few. Cheaper & tastier than Baluchi's in my opinion. I like how they add cilantro to the saag paneer, it gives it a fresh flavor! Delivery is fast too.

The Chicken Tikka Massala is very watery, and the samosas are weird.
Posted 5 years ago by Koren Z.
The food was ok, a little bland. What stood out -- and not in a good way -- was the customer service. I ordered a dish without yogurt, it arrived with yogurt. I called to resolve the situation and was told the kitchen was too busy to read instructions, that they would get it right next time but no replacement would be sent. SeamlessWeb intervened quickly and deducted the partial charge.

Really good (cheap) Indian food. We love the Chicken Tikka Masala (which comes with rice). We ordered the Pakoras (Fried Veggies) and they were not so good. Otherwise everything else is fab.

Decent (but salty) food and inexpensive. Horrible dine-in experiences with rude staff. Go ahead and order from them but don't bother actually going to the restaurant and sitting down.
